In Texas we have handicap tags for the permanently disabled, and disabled vet tags for my fellow veterans with service connected disability. We also have two kinds of handicap placards to hang on your rearview mirror. This is handy for someone like me who is temporarily disabled and can't drive, because it can be used by anyone who drives me.
The handicap placard system needs to be revised by txdot. or by the Texas government. The placards come in blue for permanent disabled and red for temporarily disabled. They should have 4 different placards. One additional placard for people who have to have the wide spot to unload a wheelchair or something of that nature. And a placard for fat people.
Fat people should have special parking like handicap parking, but not quite as close. Fat parking spots would be wide enough to allow fat people to exit a car without hitting the car parked beside them. Fat parking placards should be temporary in hopes that the fat person will lose weight. But, since that's not really likely, they should be renewed with the drivers license or identification card.
Placards should be made harder to alter and copy. The whole purpose of the placards is wasted if you can buy a fake at the local flea market and nobody ever questions it.
